Via Rail passenger train derails in Manitoba
A Via Rail passenger train carrying ten people derailed Tuesday west of Winnipeg.
Rescuers are busy assessing the condition of passengers and crew, according to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, but no one appears to have been seriously injured.
The derailment occurred at approximately 6:45 a.m., approximately 15 kilometers north of the community of MacGregor.
In a press release, Via Rail said that the train was carrying seven passengers and five crew members.
The train had left Winnipeg and was on its way to Churchill.
Via Rail says it is working with the authorities to find out what happened.
