Two fatal accidents in Saint-Germain-de-Grantham
Two motorcyclists lost their lives in two accidents that occurred a few hours apart, one Friday night and the other Saturday morning, on Yamaska Road in Saint-Germain-de-Grantham , in Center-du-Québec.
The first accident occurred shortly before 11 pm on Friday. Patrice Lapierre, a 58-year-old motorcyclist, collided with a manure spreader on Yamaska Road, not far from Highway 20. He was taken to the hospital where his death was found, reports the Police of Quebec (SQ).
Yamaska Road was closed for a few hours while the police could determine the cause of the accident. It seems likely that distraction or inattention is to blame. The road was opened again to traffic Saturday morning.
The second accident, involving a motorcycle and a car, occurred just before 8 am, a few hundred meters from the scene of the first collision. Motorcycle driver Gabriel Gélinas, 20, of Roxton Falls, Montérégie, was rushed to hospital in critical condition. His death was confirmed later in the day by police authorities.
The Yamaska road was again closed to traffic while the SQ police investigated the circumstances of the accident, for the moment unknown. It is therefore necessary to make a detour via the 5th Rang and the Ferron road until Yamaska Road is opened again.
