  • On December 29th, “The Book of Boba Fett” starts on Disney +.

While we will soon be closing the year 2021 as a book, Disney + is already opening a new one: With “The Book of Boba Fett” we will be taken back to the well-known “Star Wars” worlds from December 29th. Although the bizarre character Boba Fett was only given minor supporting roles in the original trilogy, the cool bounty hunter blossomed into one of the most popular characters among fans. With the second season of “The Mandalorian” Boba finally made it into the limelight. He is played by the actor Temuera Morrison (61), who played Boba's father Jango in “Attack of the Clone Warriors”. Because the two are originally clones, this line-up for the spin-off Boba is now more than successful.

To prepare for the Star Wars version of the criminal underworld, here are a few background facts about Boba Fett.

Who is the guy anyway?

The character of Boba Fett made her film debut in 1980 in “The Empire Strikes Back”. Die-hard “Star Wars” fans will know, however, that he appeared for the very first time in a cartoon from the infamous “Star Wars Holiday Special” from 1978. However, the bounty hunter had his first chronological appearance in the film in “Attack of the Clone Warriors”: There, viewers get to know Boba as a small child. Boba was the only clone of the Mandalorian Jango Fett who did not age faster or was modified to unconditional obedience. In this episode, Jango was beheaded by the Jedi master Mace Windu – in front of his cloned “son” Boba.

At some point Boba began wearing his father's Mandalorian armor and promptly became a bounty hunter too. Soon he took on Darth Vader's order to catch Luke Skywalker. In doing so, Boba managed to capture Han Solo. He frozen it in carbonite and sold it to the criminal lord Jabba the Hutt. For some time, Fett hung around Jabba's palace on the desert planet Tatooine. When Luke and his pals decided to carry out their plan to save Han, his jetpack malfunctioned while fighting and fell into the jaws of a Sarlaac – a buried monster that slowly digested its prey over the course of a thousand years.

What was Boba's role in «The Mandalorian»?

Basically, this was the last time you saw or heard anything from Boba – until he reappeared in “The Mandalorian”. How exactly he escaped from the stomach of the monster Sarlaac is not yet known. But his armor has since been found by a local Vanth who gave it to the Mandalorian Din Djarin.

But together with the bounty hunter Fennec Shand, Boba succeeds in tracking down Din on the planet Tython and proving his Mandalorian ancestry. At the end of the season, he accompanies Din and the various other allies of the Mandalorian on a mission to rescue Grogu, aka Baby Yoda.

What can we do about Boba Fett «__3c9ui.”> ” expect?

The promo material for “The Book of Boba Fett” keeps the plot rather vague, although the basic premise should be pretty clear: Boba, who claims to have left his time as a bounty hunter, wants to rule the criminal underworld who once ruled Jabba the Hutt. He has gathered around Jabba's former generals and suggests that they work together for their mutual benefit and fortune. Where Jabba spread fear, Boba will act with respect.

So far, Boba and Fennec are the only known characters who appear in “The Book of Boba Fett”. In view of the fact that “The Mandalorian” was already known for having the fans' favorite characters appear again and again or for incorporating surprises, a reunion with familiar faces is quite possible.
