Deaths from COVID-19 on the planet today amount to 995,836, while confirmed cases total 32.9 million, according to statistics directly updated by the World Health Organization (WHO).
America accumulates slightly less than half of these cases, 16.3 million, while 6.8 million were diagnosed in South Asia and 5.6 million in Europe .
While in the American continent the daily contagion curve has been slowly decreasing since the end of July, although it is still above 100,000, in Europe it rises rapidly and already experiences figures close to 80,000 in some days, double that in the worst months of confinement.
As for fatal figures, America, with almost 550,000 deaths, still reports some days more than 3,000 deaths and the graph of this indicator has remained stable since April, while in the Old Continent, with 234,000 deaths, it reports less than a thousand daily , five times less than in the first wave.
The United States, which has overcome the barrier of seven million cases, tops the list of countries most affected, followed by India with six million, Brazil with 4.7 million and Russia with 1.1 million .
They are immediately followed by five Spanish-speaking countries: Colombia (806,000 infections), Peru (800,000), Mexico (726,000), Spain (716,000) and Argentina (702,000).
Recovered patients on the planet are more than 24.6 million, three out of four, and of the nearly eight million active cases less than one percent (65,000) are in serious or critical condition.
