  • According to management, Mirco died a “natural death”.

  • Now the public prosecutor's office is clarifying why he has still not been buried.

It was a big shock for the TV world: on December 3rd, the popular comedian Mirco Nontschew died unexpectedly at the age of 52. His death far too early caused consternation among fans, family and friends – but they still couldn't say goodbye.

Although his manager, Bertram Riedel, informed the «Bild» about 14 days ago that Nontschew had died as a result of a «natural death», he has still not been able to say goodbye. The Berlin public prosecutor's office explains the reason for this to the German newspaper: A toxicological report, which can rule out poisoning, for example, can take up to six weeks. If the family so wishes, such a procedure can be initiated.

Burial not until the new year

Until the medical examiner officially closes the case, Mirco Nontschew's body cannot be released for burial. In the worst case, relatives have to wait until after Christmas and New Year's Eve to say goodbye. Not easy for the family: “It is important to us that the speculation in the past few days about the death of Mirko Nontschew ceases and the family can mourn in peace,” the manager said in an earlier statement.
