CAPE CANAVERAL— The new capsule american for astronauts flew to the small hours of Saturday to the international space Station in a test flight the stakes are high for SpaceX.

The only passenger aboard the capsule Dragon was a model with human proportions that is named Ripley, as the character portrayed by actress Sigourney Weaver in the movie Alien. SpaceX must successfully navigate those first steps with his capsule crew before they can put astronauts on board later this year.

The capsule tape-to-the eye moves more quickly in the direction of the space station it is expected to reach on Sunday morning, just 27 hours after launch.

Dragon must spend five days docked to the space station before returning to Earth by a dip in the Atlantic ocean next Friday. All these steps constitute the training of the critical view of a next demonstration of human flight in space, possibly in the course of the summer, with two astronauts aboard.

The founder and ceo of SpaceX, Elon Musk, stated that the launch was “very stressful” to look at, but he was hopeful that the capsule will be ready to transport passengers later this year.

“To be honest, I’m a bit exhausted emotionally, has entrusted Mr. Musk to reporters barely an hour after take-off. It is still necessary to dock with the station, it is necessary to return, but so far everything has worked and we have gone through the steps the most risky.”

The NASA administrator, Jim Bridenstine, has called the event “a great night for the United States of America”.

“We are about to re-send in space american astronauts on rockets for the u.s., since the u.s. soil, for the first time since the withdrawal of the space shuttle in 2011,” commented Mr. Bridenstine, who was entitled to a guided tour of the launch pad, the day before, with Elon Musk.

About 5000 people of NASA employees and sub-contractors, tourists, and journalists were gathered in the early morning at Kennedy Space Center with the launch team of SpaceX.

The rocket Falcon 9 has détonné just before dawn, the same place where the rockets Apollo and other shuttles have flown away in the past. At the other end of the country, at the centre of control of SpaceX in Hawthorne in California, the employees were euphoric, screaming and clapping at each of the stages until the arrival of the capsule in orbit.

Observing the scene from the room of the controls of the Kennedy center, the two NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken have quickly had a good question to Elon Musk : “What do you think to fly?” The two men must take part in a manned test flight in July of next year.

Eight years ago, Doug Hurley and three other astronauts have completed the last mission of an american space shuttle, and launches from Florida have come to an end.
