That's what it's about

  • Sweden receives a transgender Minister.

  • Lina Axelsson Kihlblom becomes Minister of Education.

  • The new head of government of Sweden, Magdalena Andersson, has appointed the 51-year-old.

On Tuesday, Sweden's new head of government Magdalena Andersson appointed the 51-year-old transgender Lina Axelsson Kihlblom as school minister and thus appointed the Scandinavian country's first female transgender minister. In her book “Will you love me now?” describes Kihlblom how she first grew up as a girl in the body of a boy and then developed into a woman. This process lasted until she was 25 years old.

The Social Democrat Andersson was elected head of government on Monday after some turmoil. She became the first woman to head the Swedish government.

In 2018, Axelsson Kihlblom wrote in an article for SVT that there have always been trans people. “We are the new normal,” she said. In October 2020, Petra de Sutter from Belgium was the first transperson in Europe to be entrusted with a ministerial office.
