Pekka Rinne scores and blocks 29 shots in Predators 5-2 win
Pekka Rinne made 29 saves and scored in an empty net, allowing the Predators to triumph 5-2 at the expense of the Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night.
The ‘head coach John Hynes has enjoyed a first victory in the Predators bar. He became the third head coach in team history when Peter Laviolette was fired on Monday.
Matt Duchene, Viktor Arvidsson and Colin Blackwell moved the ropes for the Predators, who have lost five of their last six outings. Nick Bonino added a goal to an empty net before watching Rinne do the same.
Rinne, 37, had his first career goal and a 14th point in the Bettman circuit. He became the 12th different goaltender to score an NHL goal.
Dominik Kubalik hit the mark for the third straight game, but the Blackhawks slipped to 1-2 in their four game home game. Alex DeBrincat scored in power play and Corey Crawford concluded the game with 25 saves.
