American actress Christian Serratos will be in charge of impersonating the “queen of Tex-Mex” in “Selena: The Series” which will premiere on Netflix on December 4, as announced today through Selena Quintanilla's digital platforms.
According to the Mexican newspaper “El Heraldo”, the series will be launched with two seasons and will reflect the musical career of Quintanilla, accompanied by the personal vicissitudes he faced. The film was created by Moisés Zamora and its executive producers include Suzette Quintanilla, Selena's sister.
The cast of “Selena: La Serie” also includes Gabriel Chavarria (AB Quintanilla), Noemí González (Suzette), Ricardo Chavira (Abraham), and Seidy López (Marcella).
In an interview published by the same newspaper, Serratos recounted the challenges he faced when impersonating Quintanilla and even questioned whether he could at least approach the interpretation of Jennifer López in the singer's first biographical tape.
“We just tell them if we agree or not. Of all of them, she (Serratos) was the best, ” said Selena's father, Abraham Quintanilla, who was responsible for authorizing the project.
“Selena will always have an indelible place in the history of music and we feel a great responsibility to do her memory justice. With this series, the public will know for the first time the complete story of Selena, our family and the impact it has had on our lives ”, explained last December through Instagram, Suzette Quintanilla.
