Metro Media interested in the daily newspapers of Capitales Médias

A new actor says to consider buying the six dailies affected by the rout of Groupe Capitales Médias (GCM). Owner since last year of the free Metro newspaper and weeklies, Métro Media has already made representations to the trustee to submit an offer.
In bankruptcy, GCM went to court on Monday to protect itself from its creditors, and its chairman, Martin Cauchon, resigned.

Metro Media Vice President and General Manager Andrew Mulé immediately contacted PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), who acts as trustee. “If there is a sale to do, we are interested,” he said in an interview at La Presse yesterday. PwC told him that the official process for finding a buyer would be launched early next month.

“We really like the quality of the group’s products. And I believe a lot in the print media. It’s really in my priorities and our corporate focus, “said Mr. Mulé.
