Although the results of the El Nuevo Día Poll place him finishing in fourth position if the elections were held today, the candidate for the country's first executive for the Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP), Juan Dalmau, expressed that the poll shows “support solid ”to his candidacy and to his proposed government program.
Dalmau would obtain 6% of the votes, behind the candidate for governor for the Citizen Victory Movement, Alexandra Lúgaro (13%), the candidate of the Popular Democratic Party, Carlos Delgado Altieri (37%) and the New Progressive Party (PNP) ), Pedro Pierluisi (38%).

The senator, however, would outnumber César Vázquez (1%), from the Dignity Project, and the independent candidate Eliezer Molina (0.1%), who ranks among others along with a candidacy by direct nomination of Governor Wanda Vázquez Garced, among some other people.
Following these results, Dalmau said he would impose “greater intensity” on his campaign.
“I receive all support with great humility and with great responsibility. This month that remains of the campaign imposes on me greater intensity of work to continue communicating my project of a country, of a new homeland and to continue carrying the message of contrasts about the history and character of the other candidates in front of mine ” , he stressed.
Asked what specifically it would intensify, Dalmau spoke of the qualities that he assures distinguish him from his opponents.
“It is important to intensify (the message) that the only candidate who has presented a government program, a proposal to the country to address urgent issues, has been me. The others have been limited to sketches or press releases. For me it is important to be able to communicate to the country what the new homeland project I am presenting is. It is a project, it is a pact with the people of Puerto Rico to address their urgent problems. It is a sign that I do not come to improvise, I come to execute ” , he sentenced.
The poll revealed that among adults aged 18 to 34, Lúgaro leads with 34% of the votes. It is followed by Pierluisi with 27%, and Delgado Altieri with 25%. The PIP candidate achieves 7% in this age group.
However, the degree of certainty of those who say they will vote for Dalmau on November 3 in this group is 76%.
“Beyond seeing that what young people are looking for are options, other than the traditional red and blue ones, it is natural that these votes are distributed. In the case of the PIP, we started from an electoral base of 2% in the last elections. These numbers, which are seen in this survey, place the community tripling that support and in a solid way. For this reason, I say that without elements of triumphalism, because there is a month left in the campaign and I am very hard with the work I have to do, I think it is solid support “
“I interpret this as a growth of the party. Our goal is not merely an enrollment. My goal in this campaign is to be a real option for the country, ”he continued.
César Vázquez: “That is not the reality we see in town”
Meanwhile, the candidate for governor for the Dignidad project, César Vázquez, said that The Survey collects that “the recognition factor for my candidacy and the Dignity Project has increased exponentially,” although he stressed that there are limitations because it is limited to what the electorate of the period from September 19 to 23.
“For the poll there is no dissatisfaction with the PNP and PPD, and voters will continue to vote for both parties no matter who the candidate is. Those of us who have been on the street know that this is not the case. That is not the reality that we see in the town ” , declared Vázquez.
“Having said that -obviously- one has to make an effort in the time that remains so that they know you and that they listen to your proposals. The presence of Proyecto Dignidad in these elections has changed the content of the campaigns, has forced the candidates to discuss issues that they do not want to discuss, issues that are uncomfortable, “he added.
He said that the media coverage of Proyecto Dignidad has focused on issues “such as morality and family, and does not review other issues such as education, health, security and the economy.”
“We exhort the people to see our proposals and realize that what we propose puts an end to our problems with the family, the community and the small and medium-sized businessman as the center. The reality is that the survey that matters is the one on November 3, ”said Vázquez.
Meanwhile, this outlet tried to contact Eliezer Molina, but despite several calls, he was not available for an interview.
