Ursi Schläpfer from Rehtobel AR still owns such a bottle today.
Now it has the full one Beer bottle offered for sale on Ricardo for one hundred thousand francs.
It is said to be worth a whopping hundred thousand francs, the “St. Galler Meistergold », which Ursi Schläpfer from Rehetobel AR has kept with her since the championship celebration of FC St. Gallen in 2000. At least Schläpfer is offering the bottle for sale on Ricardo at this price. “At the championship celebration, I thought it would be a shame to simply finish the beer and then throw it away. So I kept it with me on the screed, where I recently found it when I was cleaning up, ”says Schläpfer.
«I wanted to show people that it existed back then»
For FCSG fan Schläpfer, the bottle has a certain sentimental value. That's why she set the price so high, says the 50-year-old commercial clerk. «I decided to offer the beer bottle on Ricardo because I wanted to show people that it existed back then. I'm proud of the bottle, ”says Schläpfer. But she also adds: “If someone really pays a hundred thousand francs for it, I could part with it.”
Immaculate condition, but dubious drinking pleasure
The bottle shows the master players of the time, including their position, as well as coach and president. According to Schläpfer, the bottle is in pristine condition: “It was stored in the dark and has a label without scratches and with rich colors”, can be read in the description on Ricardo. In addition, the bottle still contains the beer from that time, which was produced by the Schützengarten brewery.
It is doubtful that this will still be a delight after 21 years. “Our beers can be kept for between nine and twelve months. If beer is stored for a long time, it doesn't necessarily go bad, but neither does it exactly mature like wine, ”says Roger Tanner, Head of Marketing and Services at the Schützengarten Brewery. “It's probably no longer a pleasure today.”
Accordingly, Ursi Schläpfer does not plan to finish the beer. Not even if no enthusiastic collector agrees to shell out a hundred thousand francs for it. Instead, she'll store the bottle well packed in the dark to keep it in good condition.
