Instagram carries long-lost features again a

This is what Instagram boss Adam Mosseri announces.

Instagram is relaunching a long-lost feature

So you can soon display the timeline in chronological order again let.

That's what

  • is aboutInstagram will soon be showing posts in chronological order again.

  • The feature will be activated in the course of a new update.

  • This means that users and Users can choose between different views in the future.

  • The update is expected for the first half of this year.

When Instagram launched in 2010, the app showed posts from accounts you followed in chronological order. Back then you could scroll through your feed and be sure that you would see all the photos of friends and family as soon as you got to a picture that you had already seen before. In June 2016, Instagram changed this, which led to an outcry among the users of the app. To this day, the call for a chronological timeline in the app continues to be loud.

Now the company has listened to its users. Instagram boss Adam Mosseri has announced that the company is working on a version of the app that will allow users to display the images in chronological order again.

Three new feeds

Now you should be able to choose between three different views on Instagram, explains Mosseri in a tweet. This should give users more control over their feed again. “It's important to me that people feel comfortable when they spend time in the app. Giving you the opportunity to design Instagram the way you want is one of the best ways to ensure that, ”says Mosseri.

The “Home” feed should show Instagram how we are used to the app today. Here, an algorithm still decides which posts are most interesting for the user and shows the pictures and videos in this order. This view is particularly helpful for those people who follow too many accounts so that they can all see their posts. “That affects most users,” says Mosseri.

A second feed should be called “Favorites”. You can add accounts to this feed that you definitely don't want to miss out on posts – for example, close friends or the most popular creators. The third feed is called “Following”. In the future, all posts from accounts that you follow will be displayed in chronological order.

As Mosseri reports, the first tests of these new Instagram feeds have already been launched. They should be available to all users as soon as possible – in the first half of 2022.
