The Health Department reported this Friday 701 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 , whose samples were taken between September 9 and 22, bringing the total in this area to 21,868.
This is the second figure above 700 cases reported in less than 48 hours. The incident report yesterday reported 708 confirmed cases, the highest figure reported on the same day.
The agency also reported 391 new probable cases , with samples that were also taken between September 9 and 22, which brought the total in this line to 23,037.
Health detailed that the total number of confirmed cases was adjusted after adding 18 results with a sample collection date from September 2 to 8 and subtracting seven duplicate cases. As for probable cases, the total was adjusted by subtracting 57 who had a positive molecular test and five duplicate cases. Likewise, 22 cases were added to that line that had not been reported with a sampling date of August 10 to September 8.
On the other hand, nine deaths were reported, all confirmed, which raised the global death toll to 635.

Meanwhile, the number of patients hospitalized for the virus stood at 376 today, about 12 patients less than yesterday. Of the total hospitalized, 66 are confined in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and 27 remain connected to an artificial respirator. A minor is also still in intensive care and connected to an artificial respirator.
To date, the country's hospitals have 2,934 beds and 802 artificial respirators available for adults. In the case of intensive beds, 420 are occupied and 208 remain available .
Health defined probable death as the death of a patient who was diagnosed with COVID-19 through a serological test (non-diagnostic) or whose death was recorded by his doctor using clinical criteria when evaluating symptoms. Whereas confirmed deaths involve people who have tested positive for a molecular (diagnostic) test.
Similarly, the term confirmed positive case refers to infections whose result was validated by a molecular test. Likewise, the probable case refers to that positive result for the disease that was obtained through a serological test.
Confirmed positive cases
The total of 21,868 confirmed positive cases corresponds to 11,683 women and 10,185 to men.
The group of patients between 20 and 29 years old dominates with the highest number of infections (3,845), followed by those between 40 and 49 years old (3,765) and those between 30 and 39 years old (3,711).
The metropolitan region is the one with the most confirmed positive cases with a total of 7,670, followed by the Bayamón region (5,037) and Caguas (2,701). However, it has 310 confirmed cases for which it has not been able to identify the region.
San Juan remains the municipality with the most confirmed infections with 4,237 cases, followed by Bayamón (1,904), Carolina (1,506) and Guaynabo (877). Health still does not have available the municipality of 318 confirmed cases.
Probable positive cases
The total of 23,037 probable positive cases is divided by 12,818 corresponding to women and 10,219 to men.
In this category, the group of patients between 20 and 29 years old also registers the highest number of probable infected with 3,817, followed by the group of 40 to 49 years with 3,762 and that of 50 to 59 years with 3,749.
The metropolitan region dominates the statistics with 5,668 probable infected, followed by the Bayamón region (5,248) and the Caguas region (2,875). However, he has 217 probable cases for which he has not been able to identify the region.
San Juan is also the largest municipality with probable cases (2,945), followed by Bayamón (1,681) and Carolina (1,027). The agency does not have available the town of 217 probable cases.
