Michigan – Ford announced yesterday that it will add 300 jobs at a new plant it is building in Michigan to assemble batteries and build an electric version of the F-150 pickup truck.
The new plant is under construction in Dearborn, where Ford began manufacturing the new version of the F-150, which is scheduled to hit showrooms in November.
Ford's F-150 model is America's best-selling vehicle. Last year, the company sold 900,000 trucks.
Ford said the new electric truck will go on sale in mid-2022. The company said it is investing $ 700 million in its Rouge complex to build the new trucks. Ford also has a hybrid version planned.
