Los Angeles.- “House of the Dragon”, the first derivative series (“spin-off”) of “Game of Thrones” and that as a prequel will focus on the history of the House of Targaryen, announced that the British Paddy Considine is the first actor confirmed for cast.
“DRACARYS! Paddy Considine has been cast as King Viserys Targaryen in 'House of the Dragon', ”announced the official“ Game of Thrones ”Twitter account.
Veteran performer with a remarkable career behind him, Considine has been seen in series such as “The Outsider”, “The Third Day”, “Peaky Blinders” and “Informer” and in films such as “The Death of Stalin” (2017) , “The Bourne Ultimatum” (2007) or “Submarine” (2010).
“Viserys (Considine's character) was chosen by the lords of Westeros to succeed the Old King, Jaehaerys Targaryen, at the Great Council of Harrenhal,” HBO explained in a statement today.
“A warm, kind and decent man, Viserys only wants to carry on with his grandfather's legacy, but as we have learned in 'Game of Thrones' good men do not necessarily turn out to be great kings,” he added.
In October 2019 it was announced that “House of the Dragon” will be the first “spin-off” of “Game of Thrones”.
Just that same day it was also learned that HBO had canceled its plans for another series derived from “Game of Thrones” that was going to star Naomi Watts and that it did not convince those responsible for the chain after filming its first episode (known in the industry c As a pilot, which serves to provide a preliminary impression before deciding whether to go ahead with a hypothetical series).
In the case of “House of the Dragon”, HBO decided to approve the series directly by skipping the pilot phase.
This new production has been created by George RR Martin , the author of the epic fantasy novels on which “Game of Thrones” is based, and by Ryan Condal, whose resume includes the series “Colony.”
Condal and Miguel Sapochnik, who directed some of the most famous episodes of “Game of Thrones”, will be the “showrunners” (top managers of a series).
This new series is inspired by the book “Fire & Blood” (2018), whose narration takes place some 300 years before the events narrated in the “Game of Thrones” series and which delves into the history of the Targaryens, a of the most important houses in this universe.
After eight spectacular seasons, “Game of Thrones” said goodbye to viewers in 2019 as an impressive and historical phenomenon of the small screen.
“Game of Thrones” won 12 statuettes in the 2019 edition of the Emmy with which it extended to 59 its absolute record as the most awarded series in the history of the most important awards on television.
