“Elsie seen by …”: the life of the founder of the Reford Gardens revisited

Several guests and visitors took part, Sunday at the Estevan villa of the Reford Gardens, at the presentation of the exhibition on the life of Elsie Reford. The exhibition “Elsie vue par …” was commented by the great-grandson of the foundress of the place, Alexander Reford, and the team that assembled the course in collaboration with the firm Umanium of Montreal.
The event was also an opportunity for the team to launch the catalog of the exhibition, shot at 440 copies. “It’s a fascinating book that reads like a novel,” says Sylvain Legris, who oversaw its realization.

The exhibition tells the story of this enterprising, multi-talented woman from letters and testimonials from people who knew her. According to Umanium President Pierre Fauteux, the concept of the installations emphasizes the spirit of the villa built in 1886. The design of the interpretation panels evokes subtly the furniture and the wallpaper of the residence.
