Ahead of its new planting and harvesting season, Bayer Crop Science company announced today that it will recruit 100 employees to work at its Juana Díaz station .
Darin Rodríguez-Wells Torres, human resources leader at Bayer Crop Science in Puerto Rico, indicated that the hiring now begins in October and will last until early 2021.
Currently, Bayer is positioned as one of the main employers in the southern region with 435 regular and seasonal employees , with a payroll investment of $ 26 million in the last two years. 69% of these employees live in the municipalities of Juana Díaz, Santa Isabel, Villalba and Coamo.
The available positions are:
• Field worker / Soy pollinator – This position does not require previous experience . Candidates for this position must present a diploma evidencing they have completed the fourth year of high school. It also requires knowledge in handling technology such as iPhone, iPad, and iPod, and a willingness to work overtime, weekends and holidays if necessary.
• Technical seed ( “seed technician”) – Candidates for this position must meet the requirements of having completed a degree of Bachelor of Science (BS) or Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Biology, Botany, Agriculture, or other field of science. It also requires previous experience in compliance requirements (“Compliance”) for the location of fields digitally, and a driver's license. Other eligibility requirements are: must be bilingual (Spanish and English), good command of Windows (MS Office, Word, Power Point, Excel and Outlook), knowledge and proficiency in geographic positioning programs (such as Arc GIS, Google maps, ArcView ), availability to work Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, and communication and teamwork skills.
• Farm Machinery Operator (“field operator”) – This position requires the successful candidate to know how to drive, operate, operate and maintain agricultural machinery used to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops. Requirements for this position include: completed fourth year of high school or equivalent; Current driver's license; and availability to work overtime, weekends and holidays if necessary.
