A boy rescued in extremis from drowning in Limoilou
A citizen rescued a 4-year-old boy from drowning Monday at the Marchand Community Center swimming pool at 2740 2nd Avenue in Limoilou.
The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 3:06 pm regarding this incident. The citizen, who would be her guardian, would have seen the child in difficulty in the pool and would have out of the water. The rescuers then took charge of the child, who was aware when the firefighters arrived.
The boy, who allegedly regurgitated a good amount of water, was quickly transported to a hospital center.
SPVQ investigators came to the scene to investigate the circumstances that led to this incident. Quebec City has confirmed to the Journal de Québec that it will open an internal investigation. Two rescuers were on scene at the time of the incident.
